Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarship for his family and service in the local community. Selmon is the youngest of children from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Semon. They took care of him at their farm in Eufala. He was also one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. All three of them were All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award for being the nation's best lineman. For three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. The team also took home the national title twice. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975 and selected as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree from the university of California at Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service was ten-hours per week of volunteer time in the college. After graduation, he moved to Tampa and played for nine years for Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro three times. Then he started his professional career. The first job he had was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that, in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of 10 outstanding youngsters across the country. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs when he played college football. The year 1975 was the first time he was on the team. team. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993, as Associate Director of Sports. The College Football Hall of Fame recognized his on the 28th of October, 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented its Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
