Julie London

JulieJulie London (nee Peck, September 26, 1926 - October 18th 1999) is an American performer and actress. Her career spanned more 40 years. London was a torch singer, known for her soft, smooth vocals. She recorded more than 30 albums of pop and jazz classics between 1955 and 1969. Her rendition of "Cry Me a River" the track she released on her debut album, was admitted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001. London was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for 1974 for her role in Emergency as nurse Dixie McCall. London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. Her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's 35-year acting career began with film in 1944. It included parts as the female lead in a variety of westerns. In the mid-50s, she signed a recording agreement with Liberty Records. This was the beginning of her professional music career. In 1969, she released her last studio album. However she was part of the Emergency series as Dixie McCall, a female nurse. (1972-1979), she starred with her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb produced the show.
